I am an experienced, creative teacher with a holistic approach to studying music. A member of BC Registered Music Teachers (BCRMTA), I teach piano and theory lessons up to any level. High school or home-schooled students can earn credits for reaching certain levels. I am experienced in taking students through the exam process with either Royal Conservatory or Conservatory Canada, although I don't feel this is necessary for every student. There's a new system called Contemporary Idioms which I am eager to explore with students who don't wish to follow the traditional path.
I teach voice, with students ranging from beginners to seniors who are doing it just for fun. I enjoy choir coaching: that is, working on the tools needed to enrich and improve the experience of singing in a choir. These may range from breathing techniques to the reading of parts and a basic range of terms and signs, to how to mark a score efficiently, to name just a few.
I teach beginner guitar, preferring to experiment with a variety of genres, such as rock, classical and blues, introducing the student to various methods such as note reading, tab and chording.
My students are of all ages, and I enjoy working with a variety of people. From kids to seniors, I believe music can enrich and enhance your life!
